PREPARATION TO THE FINAL VOWS, PPC ASIA ( Part I)

He said, “Cast your net into deep water on the right side of the boat, and you will find some” (Jn 21: 6)
This is the theme for the opening of the program in
preparation for final vows of the six sisters who are participating: they come
from India , Sujata Jena and Tilottoma (Goretti) Nayak; from
Indonesia, Petra Limijatin, Agnes Tri Endarti , Mestiar Habeahan and Augustina Sri Mulati.
The event is taking place in Manila (Philippines) in
the Sisters community in Kamuning. The team members accompanying the six
sisters are Brigid Falahee, Geraldine Bane and Alejandra Muñoz.
The opening ceremony of the program was integrated
into the Eucharist, celebrated on Saturday afternoon in the chapel of our house
in Kamuning. Prior to that we were
invited to “Listen to the voice of God who calls us” during a meaningful
Morning Prayer.

Two of the members of the PPC Coordination Team, Ratna Kumalasari (major superior) and Jane Francis Leandro (Vicar) are also
in the Philippines at present and they shared some words of wisdom and
encouragement with us encouraging us to follow
a deeper journey with Jesus in silence and to seek the hidden treasure
deep within our hearts.
Our initial days passed in listening, reflecting and
sharing and in this our third day Sr.
Brigid led us in a reflection on Conflict and Reconciliation.
On August 5, 2014, we as brothers and sisters in the
Philippines International Community (PIC) celebrated the Golden Jubilee of our
dear Sr. Brigid Falahee, the 50th anniversary of her religious life in the
Congregation of the Sacred Hearts. It was a time of grace and blessing.
Fr. Andy Healy was the main celebrant; he gave us a
lovely homily which we can summarize, in four words: Chosen, Blessed, Broken
and Given in line with the psalm “Blessed
be God who knows me and loves me just as I am”.
We continued our celebration with the wonderful
programs such as lively dances and songs from different communities. We also
acknowledged the 14th anniversary of Sr. Alejandra and the birthday
celebrant brother Michael.

We were invited to use our imagination to explore and
express our journey as religious of the Sacred Hearts. He motivated us to “Think differently! Do something outside of
our habitual life pattern as we prepare for the final profession.”
Fr. Finbar quoted from a philosopher who said “We live our lives forward but we understand
them backward”. It is to say that we get the clear sense of our journey
when we occasionally look back, capture and reflect on the value of our
journey.
He beautifully illustrated the image of a caterpillar;
the caterpillar sheds its skin four times and breaks herself into a new
creation as a lovely butterfly. Formation also is like the life of a
caterpillar. It is a transforming experience, to become what we are called to
be in a crucial process. The disciples had to learn through their experiences,
moving from being disciples to being apostles. They found their missionary path
in the death and resurrection of Jesus. We as the disciples of Jesus continue
to journey with Him, listen to Him and learn from Him.
The second day,
Fr. Finbar led us to reflect on the layers of our emotions by focusing on their
importance, while letting the net down for the first time as we are launching
into the deep towards our final profession.
We were asked to be attentive to our inner movements
by drawing and coloring our emotions through clay, images and symbol, as it
flows from the energy deep within us. He let us have some healthy and positive
dialogue with the art that we made.
We also reflected and shared the wider horizons
towards final profession and the new face of the congregation. We all realized
that it is a process and a grace.
On the third and
the fourth day Fr. Finbar, invited us to understand the meaning of the
transition stage, it is the ending of the past and beginning of the new.
He highlighted the crucial feelings that we would
experience in our transition period. It was an enriching, enthusiastic and
reinvigorating experience.
Final profession is the beginning, it is not an
ending. It is a second honeymoon to reconnect in the new sparkle of our
relationship with God and with others.
We concluded our first module with a wonderful and
lovely ritual of weaving our own nets with our dreams and hopes. We visualized
ourselves as professed sisters through paintings and united everyone’s symbols
in relation to the worldwide vision of the congregation.
We expressed
our deep gratitude to Fr. Finbar for his inspirational artistic workshop.
On
August 11th, we enjoyed the inspiring, insightful sharing of Fr. Enrique Moreno sscc, on Charism and
Mission. He emphasized the meaning of charism as gratuitous gift of God
based on St.Paul's letters to the Corinthians and the Gospel of John. We can
develop our personal Charism with the help of the Holy Spirit as paraclete;
by purifying our own charism. It is to open ourselves to give and to receive
the accompaniment from one another.
On
August 12th and 13th, Fr. Michael Maguire, a Columban priest, boosted our self-esteem by
his dynamic interaction and input. He encouraged us to practice the primary
and personal vows: "To learn, to change and to be happy". It
is to say that "I CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY AND TO HAVE A BRIGHT HAPPY FACE AS
THE GREATEST GIFT TO THE CONGREGATION."
This is a positive movement
from the self-doubt to the state of grace. He corrected some of our wrong
assumptions with regard to our appreciation of ourselves. The most significant aspect of every person's
life is his or her spiritual health. For this purpose, the growth of awareness
is required in our daily actions.
On
August 14th, Fr. Jean
Pierre Cottanceau sscc, led us on a journey with Mary in contemplating
Jesus, her Son. We learned some lessons from Mary:
Silence: Through meditation, interiority,
receptiveness we are able to listen to God's voice in a world filled with
agitation and noise.
Humility: “I am the handmaid
of the Lord” is an expression of a humble servant of the Lord.
Openness and
encounter: Receiving and welcoming the gift of God. Mary was able to
say "Yes" expressing her Fiat and Magnificat. As Mary conceived and gave birth to Jesus in the world,
we are also
called
to have
Jesus in our heart and reveal Him to people. To give birth to life, give birth to Jesus in
the hearts of our brothers and sisters through the witness of our life. We are called to
imitate Mary as a believer and as a disciple. Mary has a concrete way of
expressing her faith and manifesting God's love in her life.
On
the 15th, we had a quiet
day in Sacred Heart Novitiate retreat house. It was a privileged moment for
all of us to recall our input over the two weeks and to reflect it more deeply.
In
the morning of the 16th, we joined with our
PIC brothers and sisters in the solemn ceremony of the final profession of our brother Edmond in the new parish which is
staffed by our Sacred Hearts Brothers: and in the afternoon we had a creativity
session with our sister Alejandra.

On the first day, our session was Journey
companion: Seeking God Together.
We learned to listen deeply to
ourselves. There are four aspects in our lives: physical, intellectual,
spiritual and emotional that we need to balance in order to have a holistic
approach to life.
In seeking God together, we
have three movements: a journey towards self (pay attention to oneself in
silence and solitude), towards others (hospitality) and a journey towards God
(relationship with God in prayer).
On the second day, our theme was to listen
deeply to others.
When we listen deeply to
ourselves, we can also listen deeply to others and to God. In listening deeply
to ourselves, we let our lives speak to us. In listening to another, we receive
into our heart the soul of the other. Deep
speaks to deep, and needs an attentive heart. As a listener we are one with
the sharer and that means that we deepen our respect for others. The more we
neglect to listen to ourselves, the more we tend to neglect others as
well.
On the third day, our session was about Practicing listening.We started with a listening checklist,
evaluating our capacity to attentive listening. Mindful listening requires us
to see, hear, and feel with our whole being. We were able to practice it in the
small group sharing. We also learned the power of revisiting prayer as a
conscious and loving relationship.
On the fourth day, our session was about Seeking God together. We learned the sacred art of conversation by
forming a contemplative response in order to engage with the sharer. In
sharing, we need to listen deeply to the spirit inside us that leads us to
contemplative conversation. When we become attentive to our spirit, we become
more attuned to the stirrings of God’s spirit within us.
On the fifth day, our session was about Group Spiritual Direction. We were given time to reflect and
practice the group spiritual direction. The importance of group spiritual
direction is to lead the group deeper into the love of God. It helps to have an
intimate relationship with God and equips us to be in relationship with others.
Then, together we can become companions in our journey towards self, others and
God. It is in Group spiritual direction that we experience being listened to
and loved.

On
August 19 and 20, and after on, 26 and 27, Fr. Michael Maguire invited us to reflect on the commitment to our
vocation in religious life by exploring the growth process we need to unfold in
ourselves. In following Jesus, we have two major aspects: experience of
Discipleship, in this aspect convinced that God loves us, calls
us, shares with us to enter the Kingdom of God. Another aspect is the Cost-of-Discipleship
this emphasizes the sacrificial aspect, taking up one’s cross. The experience of
discipleship must be greater than the cost of discipleship, otherwise we might
feel that following Jesus is only a sacrifice and is burdensome.
As religious we need to have a
clear motivation, which is the key to continued fruitfulness in our vocation. Religious Life is a
conscious decision to bind oneself to God and to the community of God’s people.
It is
an invitation to search for God in our
daily life.
On August 29th, Our PIC (Philippines International Community) brothers and sisters
celebrated the feast of Blessed Estaquio in our sister’s house,
Kamuning. It was a precious moment of adoration together and then we continued
with our potluck dinner and celebrated the birthday celebrants for the months
of August and September.

On that
same day, in the evening, we attended a concert given by Jose Merican, a
famous singer. ‘Beautiful girl’ is a well-known song by him. He was joined by
other artists from the Philippines who
presented a wonderful performance with him in the Palacio de Manila. We
enjoyed the night together with all our sisters. Thank God for all of your
support and prayer. May God bless us all!

LOS VOTOS PERPETUOS del PPC ASIA (1ª
parte)
Él les dijo: “Echad la red en lo profundo a la derecha de la barca, y
hallaréis”. (Jn 21,6)
Este es el texto evangélico de la apertura del
programa de preparación para los votos perpetuos de seis hermanas que están participando
en el mismo. Ellas son: de India, Sujata
Jena y Tilottoma (Goretti) Nayak: de Indonesia, Petra Limijatin, Agnes Tri Endarti, Mestiar Habeahan y Augustina Sri Mulati.
El evento tiene lugar en Manila (Filipinas) en la
comunidad de Hermanas en Kamuning.
Los miembros del equipo que acompañan a las seis hermanas son Brigid Falahee, Geraldine Bane y Alejandra Muñoz.

La ceremonia de apertura del programa se integró
en la Eucaristía, celebrada por nuestro
hermano Enrique Moreno, el sábado por la tarde en la capilla de la casa en Kamuning.
La invitación de la oración de la mañana fue
de "Escuchar la voz de Dios que nos
llama". La hna. Alejandra preparó
el logo para el programa sobre la base de Jn 21,6: es una invitación a entrar en un proceso de profundización... al igual que cuando
la red cae en el agua aparecen grandes círculos en la profundidad del mar, lo
que significa que durante la preparación del programa se dé un encuentro personal con Jesús. La
visión del programa, es una guía e invitación a profundizar el seguimiento de Jesús.
Dos de los miembros del equipo de coordinación del
PPC Asia, Ratna Kumalasari (superiora
mayor) y Jane Francis (vicaria) estuvieron
en Filipinas al iniciar el programa, entregando sabiduría que anima a seguir un
viaje más profundo con Jesús en el silencio, para poder buscar el tesoro escondido
en lo profundo de los corazones.
Los primeros días fueron de escucha, reflexión y
el intercambio y en el nuestro tercer día Brigid
introdujo a las participantes a una
reflexión sobre “conflictos y reconciliación”.
El 5 de
Agosto del 2014, hermanos y hermanas de la comunidad internacional de Asia celebraron las bodas de oro de vida religiosa
en la congregación de los Sagrados Corazones de nuestra querida hermana Brigid
Falahee. Fue un momento de gracia y bendición.
Nuestro hermano Andy ss.cc celebró la liturgia, con una homilía que podría
sresumirse en cuatro palabras: elegida, bendecida, repartida y entregada, en la
línea del salmo “Bendice a Dios que conoce mi amor tal como soy”. Después de la
Eucaristía se dio espontáneamente presentaciones de danza y cantos de las
diferentes comunidades. También celebramos el aniversario de votos de Alejandra ss.cc y el cumpleaños nuestro
nuevo sacerdote ss.cc Michael Hirfarfa

El 6 de
agosto del 2014 el padre Finbar Maxwell, columbano, dio al grupo que se prepara para
la profesión perpetua un taller que detalló todo el tiempo del juniorado con
una terapia de arte, que condujo a reflexionar en lo profundo de los
sentimientos, y expresarlos creativamente, desde el lado izquierdo del cerebro,
pudiendo así expresar la relación con Dios y con los demás.
Con la motivación de “¡pensar diferente! Hacer algo
desde fuera de la vida habitual y
prepararse para la última profesión”.
El Padre Finbar citó al filósofo que dice
“nosotros vivimos dirigiéndonos hacia adelante, pero entendemos hacia atrás”. Esto
dio pautas para obtener un sentido a la jornada
para entender el pasado.
Con la imagen de la oruga, que cambia la piel
cuatro veces y re-crea finalmente una hermosa mariposa; eso es la vida, un
momento crucial. Así también los discípulos tuvieron ese movimiento para ser
apóstoles, ellos encontraron sentido de pasar de la muerte a la resurrección de
Jesús, y nosotros que somos discípulos de Jesús continuamos la jornada,
escuchándolo y aprendiendo de Él.
El segundo
día fue el tomar las emociones y
concentrarse en su importancia, poniéndolas en lo profundo experiencia de los
votos finales. Se nos invitó a entrar en los movimientos internos, pintándolos
y dibujando las emociones con plastilina, con imágenes y símbolos, entrando más
y más profundamente, dialogando con nuestros dibujos y colores. Reflexionando y
compartiendo al mismo tiempo sobre el
nuevo rostro de la congregación como un proceso de gracia.
El tercer y
cuarto día fue una reflexión de entender el significado de las etapas de
transiciones. Fue enfatizado con las experiencias personales de transición. Los
votos perpetuos son el inicio; no son el final. Es una segunda luna de miel que
reconecta un nuevo momento de la relación con Dios y con otros.
Se terminó el primer módulo con un hermoso ritual
de construir las propias redes envolviendo en ella los sueños y esperanzas, y
se visualizó a cada hermana profesa en una gran pintura común de símbolos y
colores por la misma visión de la congregación SS.CC.
Se expresó el agradecimiento al Padre Finbar por
su artística inspiración.
El 11 de
agosto, Enrique Moreno ss.cc, nos habló del carisma y misión ss.cc, enfatizando la
gratitud del regalo de Dios, basado en san Pablo, en la carta a los Corintios y en el Evangelio de Juan. Es
posible crecer en el carisma personal con el Espíritu Santo Paráclito, purificando el propio
carisma, estando abiertos – abiertas a dar y recibir el acompañamiento de
otros.

El día 14
de agosto, Jean Pierre ss.cc, se
centró en el tema: María en la contemplación a Jesús. Podemos aprender estas
lecciones de María:
Silencio: a través de la
meditación, interiorización, receptividad tenemos la posibilidad de escuchar la voz de Dios en el ruido del mundo
Humildad: “Soy la esclava del Señor”,
es la expresión mayor de humildad
Apertura al
encuentro: recibiendo y dar la bienvenida a; regalo de Dios. María está disponible
para decir “Sí”; expresando el FIAT en el Magnificat, María concibió y dio a
luz a Jesús al mundo; es un llamado a tener todos y todas a Jesús en el corazón
y revelarlo a la gente. Dar a luz la
vida, es dar a luz a Jesús en el corazón a nuestros hermanos y hermanas a
través de las debilidades de la vida humana. Es una llamada general a imitar a
María como una discípula creyente. María tuvo un concreto camino para expresar
su fe manifestada en el amor de Dios en su vida.
El día 15 de agosto fue un día de silencio en la casa de retiros “Sagrado
Corazón”. Fue un momento de volver a retomar dos semanas de programa y poder
reflexionarlo profundamente.
El día 16
de agosto fue la ceremonia de la profesión
perpetua de Edmond ss.cc. Tuvo
lugar en la nueva parroquia que llevan los hermanos , en Bagbag (Manila).
Los días 21
al 25 de agosto se tuvo un módulo en la casa de espiritualidad de las
religiosas de la Virgen María sobre “dirección spiritual buscando juntos a
Dios”
El primer
día fue una escucha profunda hacia uno mismo, con cuatro aspectos: corporal,
intelectual, espiritual y emocional.
Para ello es necesario tener orden en un movimiento holístico de la
vida. Buscando juntos a Dios, se dan tres movimientos: poner atención a uno
mismo en silencio y soledad, la hospitalidad y la relación con Dios en la
oración
El segundo
día fue escuchar profundamente a los otros. Sólo cuando escuchamos
profundamente a nosotros mismos podemos escuchar a Dios y a los demás. Una profunda conversación
necesita un corazón atento.
El tercer
día fue sobre la práctica del oír; fue ejercitar el buscando – oyendo y evaluar la capacidad de oír. Se requiere: ver,
escuchar y sentir con todo el ser.
El cuarto
día fue el buscar a Dios juntas; es
poner en práctica el sagrado arte de la conversación, en una contemplativa
conversación, estar atentas al Espíritu, que está en cada persona.
El quinto
día fue sobre dirección espiritual de grupo, lo cual es primordial una
profunda relación con Dios, que se dará por tanto en una profunda relación con
los demás. Es escuchar con amor.
Enrique Moreno
ss.cc durante los días de 18, y luego el 28 y 29, dio
sesiones sobre el carisma y misión ss.cc. Utilizó la introducción que
hizo Brian
Ganley en que dice que el carisma ss.cc
enfatiza el centro de la persona, que quiere decir que nosotros y nosotras
damos nuestros corazones a las personas y nos encontramos así en la misión.
Tomando como base el Evangelio de Marcos 1, 14-45, compartió varias reflexiones
sobre “El seguimiento de Jesús en la Misión”, la proclamación del Reino de Dios
de Jesús especialmente en la comunidad, la realidad y la oración, la unión
entre fe y acción. Todo esto en relación a las Constituciones de las hermanas
ss.cc sobre la disponibilidad a la misión. Como sscc, dibujamos la misión desde
el Corazón de Jesús y María, porque el
amor es el que transforma, unifica y hace posible vivir en la promesa de la
misión con Dios y con los demás.
El padre Michael
Maguire, columbano, los días 19 y 20, y luego 26 y 27, reflexionó sobre
el compromiso de nuestra vocación en la vida religiosa, explorando el proceso
de crecimiento que se desenvuelve en nosotros y nosotras, en el seguimiento de
Jesús, teniendo en cuenta dos grandes aspectos: la experiencia de ser discípulos, con el convencimiento del amor de
Dios que nos llama, nos habla a cada uno y una a entrar en el Reino de Dios; y el otro aspecto, el costo de ser discípulos, que enfatiza el aspecto del sacrificio,
tomando cada uno su cruz. La experiencia de ser discípulos bebe ser grandiosa,
sino se experimenta una caída y se quema a la persona.
Como religiosos/as tenemos que tener una clara
motivación, la cual es la llave para continuar dando frutos en la vocación. La
vida religiosa es una decisión consciente de uno mismo con Dios y con la
comunidad de la gente de Dios. Esta es la invitación: buscar a Dios en el día a
día.
El día 29
de agosto la comunidad internacional de hermanas y hermanos en Filipinas,
celebró la festividad del Beato Eustaquio, en la casa de formación de las
hermanas en Kamuning. El momento central fue la adoración, y se finalizó con
una cena compartida celebrando los cumpleaños de los hermanos y hermanas de
agosto y septiembre.
El día 30
de agosto, Alejandra ss.cc compartió sobre María, como modelo de gracia desde
el amor de Dios, la cual estaba abierta y aceptó la gracia de Dios trinitario.
El tema fue como ella integró todo ello en su belleza interior y se hizo
instrumento de la encarnación. Al igual que maría nosotros nosotras somos
reflejo de la gracias de Dios. Todos y todas debemos estar siempre atentos/as y abiertos/as a la gracia de Dios en nuestras
vidas. Fue dado a través de la alegría
dar la vida a otros y estos ver la gracia de Dios en cada uno de nosotros y
nosotras.
Ese mismo día, sábado, en la noche, se asistió a
un concierto de un famoso cantante filipino José Merican y otros artistas que presentaron
maravillosas actuaciones. Asistieron muchas de las hermanas ss.cc de Filipinas.

Muchas gracias a todas las
hermanas y hermanos por apoyar con las oraciones, Dios les bendiga a todos y
todas.
